Third Wave Cafe Gluten Free Options:

Tomahawk Dry Aged Steak

As the popularity of gluten-free diets continues to surge, restaurants are innovating their menus to accommodate this growing trend. Among them, Third Wave Cafe has carved a niche for itself by offering a tantalising array of gluten-free options that don’t compromise on flavour, texture, or culinary creativity. Let’s explore the gastronomical delights you can savour here.

Start your day with Third Wave’s breakfast delights. The ‘Spicy Ratatouille Baked Eggs’ is a mélange of eggplant, zucchini, red peppers, tomatoes, and Herbs de Provence, baked with Spanish chorizo and free-range eggs. Topped with Asiago cheese and served with toasted Ciabatta bread, this dish is a zesty way to kickstart your day.

For a sweet and savoury experience, try the ‘Candy Bacon’. Imagine streaky bacon brushed with maple syrup, drizzled with brown sugar and chilli, and then slow-cooked to candy-like perfection. Top this with fresh avocado, poached eggs, and a hint of hollandaise, all served on a toasted English muffin, and you’ve got a breakfast of champions.

If you’re a meat-lover, Third Wave’s gluten-free steak options are a must-try. The ‘Rump Steak – Aged’ is a local Gippsland farm-sourced, 40-day aged delight. The ‘Tomahawk Steak – Aged’ and the ‘Ribeye Steak – Aged’ are equally enticing, served with corn bread fries and a trio of house-made sauces. Patience is key, as these steaks take about 40 minutes to prepare.

Third Wave’s slow-cooked and smoked lunch BBQ meats are worth every minute of your lunch break. The ‘Pork Ribs’ and ‘Beef Ribs’ will melt in your mouth. The ‘Chicken’ is marinated overnight and smoked with maple wood for up to 5 hours, making it an unexpected star. There are also options for plant-based eaters, like the ‘Vrisket Burnt Ends’ , made from plant-based meat and smoked for hours.

The side dishes also come with gluten-free options. The ‘Crispy Coleslaw’, a crunchy mix of apples, carrots, and colored cabbage is perfect for those seeking a lighter bite, while the ‘Spicy Chicken Wings’ and ‘Bacon Candy’ can spice up your meal.

The lunch and dinner menu also boast a variety of gluten-free burgers, salads, and larger meal options. The ‘Smoky Chicken Burger’ and ‘Smoked Lamb Burger’ are standout items. The ‘Edgy Veggie Burger’, made from a potato and lentil patty, is a delightful option for vegetarians.

The dinner menu keeps up the momentum with a range of gluten-free BBQ meats and sides. The ‘Vrisket Burnt Ends’ ($34/$68.90), a vegan and gluten-free dish, deserves special mention. For dessert, the gluten-free ‘Affogato’ offers a sweet conclusion with a punch of caffeine.

Third Wave’s menu offers a spectrum of gluten-free options that are not only fun and exciting but also meet the diverse dietary needs of today’s discerning customers. It’s a gastronomic paradise where dietary restrictions don’t limit your culinary adventure!

Third Wave has become a religious experience on the Melbourne restaurant scene. Since opening in 2010, we have cemented a reputation as a great neighborhood cafe with a loyal breakfast and lunch crowd. People come from far and wide to enjoy our exceptional coffees and vast breakfast & lunch menu. Then by night, we transform into a bustling BBQ joint, inspired by the classic American smoke houses of the deep south. Today we are proud to be recognised as one of the best American BBQ experiences you’ll have outside of the US.

Third Wave Cafe started as a trendy inner Melbourne café with an aim to grow and so we did. After 9 years, we are one of Melbourne’s favourite American BBQ restaurants with a huge emphasis on slow-smoked meats and burgers.
